

Capstone Project: Carrie on Student vs. Faculty Field Hockey Game
The name James River High School was first introduced to Allyson Steiner, a now senior in the Leadership and International Relations Center, during Mr. Roarty’s sixth grade gym class. He inspired her to continue playing field hockey and to go to James River where his wife, Carrie Roarty was a gym teacher and coach. Mrs. Roarty passed that year due to cancer. Capstone Project: Cornhole for the Boys
Cornhole For The Boys was a senior Capstone Project by Parker Brandt and Christopher Forrest that took place on December 8, 2019. Hosted at Independence Gold Club, the project was a cornhole tournament designed to raise awareness about men's health, specifically Prostate Cancer, as well as raise money for a charity donation. Capstone Project: Digital Divide Silent Auction
Sophie Azula and Kate Morris decided to combat the issue of the digital divide as their senior Capstone. The digital divide is a term used to describe the gap between individuals who have the Internet as a readily available resource and those who do not. Sophie and Kate first learned about the digital divide in the AP Computer Science Principles class at James River.
