CAPSTONE PROJECT: TUTUS FOR TOMORROW

For the last 8 weeks, 14 middle school girls have been refining their dance skills at the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Richmond under the direction of senior, Nikki Chiappa. Students learned a variety of combinations and tricks during their classes along with important lessons in dance etiquette and performance skills.

On November 6, 2015, the girls performed in a recital at Dogtown Dance Theatre. The performance was an opportunity for students to show their parents what they’d learned over the past 8 weeks, as well as to be inspired by other dancers from around Richmond. The girls were the first to perform and took the stage with confidence, poise, and, most importantly, Beyonce worthy sass. After their dance, they sat with their parents to watch 5 other dance companies from across Richmond (including James River's very own Rapid Motion!) perform for them. The night ended with a dessert reception and the presentation of a scholarship for a full year of hip hop classes at Legacy School of Dance.
