Our Mission

River Jam’s mission is to hold a fun and immersive event that encourages people to use creativity to improve their mental health.

River Jam is an annual music festival held at James River High School that raises money for a charitable cause. Since 2018, River Jam has been run by a team of seniors who have a passion for service, entrepreneurship and of course - music! The event itself serves to create a fun environment while also showing people how effective music can be as a tool for mental health. River Jam will feature local bands, vendors, and food trucks, yard games, raffles and more! Come out and jam with us on March 23rd!

Our Beneficiary

Health Brigade, formerly Fan Free Clinic, provides exceptional health services to those least served, in a caring and non-judgmental environment.  Incorporated in 1970, Health Brigade was the first free clinic in Virginia and one of the first in the nation.  To really appreciate the legacy of Fan Free Clinic and how it evolved into Health Brigade, it is helpful to remember the culture from which it emerged.  In the era of Woodstock—peace, love, and the unrest of Vietnam—two doctors, a nurse, and minister began an effort to serve those who lived mostly in the shadows of Richmond’s inner city – the poor, the sick, and the marginalized.  Today, Health Brigade continues its 53-year legacy of responding to those least served by working to ensure greater access to quality integrated and holistic care - bringing a positive impact to our patients’ and our community’s health and wellness.  How they provide care has evolved over the years to meet the changing health needs, but their core mission and values remain the same—providing excellent care to those who need us in a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment.
