Barktoberfest: Capstone Project

On Saturday, October 27th guests did not let the rain stop them from having a great afternoon at Barktoberfest! Barktoberfest was a Capstone completed by Senior Linda May Mullis that raised awareness for the importance of animal adoption. At Bethia United Methodist church, guests gathered in the gym with their dogs for carnival games, raffles, and even face painting. With several local dog related businesses in attendance, guests were able to learn more about these organizations and find great opportunities for their pets as well! At the event there were three adorable dogs available for adoption brought by

Forgotten Tails-- a small, local adoption agency. Guests were able to pet the dogs, learn more about Forgotten Tails, and the dog adoption process. At Barktoberfest, attendees and their pets were able to participate in the dog costume costume contest and blessing of the animals. The dog costume contest brought adorable competition, with hilarious and creative costumes. Guests and their dogs were also invited to participate in a blessing of the animals offered by Bethia United Methodist Church associate pastor, Mylicia Markham. Pastor Markham read scripture, and prayed on each dog who wished to be blessed. Overall, Barktoberfest was a great event bringing people of animal lovers of all ages together, and it helped dogs in need find their forever homes.
