Gone to the Theatre: Capstone Project

“Gone to the Theater!”, a program working in support of performing arts education was held at Independence Golf Club on October 21, 2018. The event was from 1-5 pm, and was filled with performances from James River High School students, along with other performing arts students in the community. As a fundraising program led by Madison Windsor, students worked in support of the Theatre Department at JRHS. With admissions and donations, all proceeds are going towards an effort to purchase new curtains for the incredible Theatre Department and community at JRHS.

The event was also crucial to show the importance of performing arts in youth and the benefits of such an education. This featured guest speaker, Mrs. Allison Oyler, the Drama Teacher at JRHS, along with President and Founder of Passion Academy, Daniel Johannesson. Community members were also able to interact with performers during the event. Overall, performers and audiences members were given a new chance to appreciate the arts and the beauty behind it all. Madison is so excited to be able to donate proceeds to Theatre on the James and leave an impact on the theatre community that has changed her high school career.
